How Is Chocolate Made?

Before we delve into the delicious delights on offer, let’s find out how chocolate is made.

Originating from the seed of the Theobroma cacao tree, chocolate starts its journey from tropical regions in Mexico, Central America and Northern South America.

In order to develop the flavour, cacao tree seeds first have to be fermented. Without this process, the seeds would taste very bitter and intense and a lot different to the chocolate you’re familiar with.

After the fermenting process the beans are dried, cleaned and roasted and the shell is removed, leaving cacao nibs. These nibs are then ground into a mass and liquefied with other ingredients. The end result? Chocolate.
